The Morning Gate didn't appear

The Gate is scheduled as a local notification at your wake time, so it needs notification permission. Open your device settings, find Dreamgate, and confirm notifications are allowed. On Android, also check that battery optimisation is not restricting the app. Then reopen Dreamgate and confirm your wake time under Settings.

I forgot my PIN

The PIN is stored only as a salted hash on your device, which means nobody — including us — can recover it. If you have an export file, reinstall the app and restore from that backup. If you do not, the journal cannot be unlocked. This is the trade-off that keeps your dreams genuinely private, and it is why we suggest exporting a backup once a month.

How do I back up or move to a new phone?

Open Settings, tap Export, and save the file somewhere you trust — cloud drive, email to yourself, anywhere. On the new phone, install Dreamgate and choose Restore during onboarding, or from Settings at any time. The export contains everything: dreams, symbols, night context, and your statistics.

Is anything sent to a server?

Your journal stays on your device. The one exception is AI interpretation: when you tap for a reading, that single dream's text and a short slice of your history are sent to our server, which asks the model and returns the reading. Nothing is stored afterwards. If you never tap for a reading, Dreamgate never sends your dreams anywhere. Night Listener audio never leaves the device under any circumstances.

What is free and what is premium?

Journalling is free forever, with no ads and no entry limits: the Morning Gate, unlimited dreams, the full symbol library, the Dream Atlas, moon tracking, technique guides, and backups. Dreamgate Premium adds AI interpretation, advanced correlations, and Night Listener. New subscribers get 14 days free.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, so they are cancelled in the store. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Dreamgate → Cancel. On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Dreamgate → Cancel. Cancelling during the 14-day trial means you are never charged. Cancelling later keeps premium active until the end of the period you already paid for.

I was charged but premium isn't active

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases — that re-reads your receipt from the store. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with the store receipt and we will sort it out.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, and it is immediate. Settings → Delete all data erases the local database. Uninstalling the app also removes everything. There is no account to close because there was never an account.

Is Dreamgate medical advice?

No. Symbol meanings and AI interpretations are offered as reflection, never diagnosis or prediction. If dreams or sleep are causing you real distress, please talk to a doctor or a qualified therapist.
